About Us
Catskill Public Theater
Catskill Public Theater is a registered 501C3 not for profit enterprise, dedicated to presenting FREE admission, pay-what-you-wish LIVE theater. We are creating a community of Theater artists to pursue that mission. Join us in our Journey to share unique, interactive theatrical experiences, to the residents of Sullivan County, New York and the greater Hudson Valley.
Catskill Public Theater now stages performances on our state-of-the-art SL-75 Mobile Stage. When not in use for our shows, it’s available for rent, with proceeds supporting our free, pay-what-you-wish live theater. Our technicians can set it up at nearly any location in under two hours, and we handle all transportation and setup. Visit www.catskillpublictheater.com for details about the stage and our other programs.
A great way to support Catskill Public Theater and our mission is by reserving a seat for one of our 2025 productions. This season features three plays—Renegade, The Gin Game, and Woodstock Ripples—each staged at a different location with performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights: July 10–19 at Catskill Brewery in Livingston Manor, July 24–August 2 at Kauneonga Lake Fire Pavilion in White Lake, August 7-August 9 at Pasta D'Oro at The Jolly Onion in Pine Island, and August 14-16 at Narrowsburg Union in Narrowsburg.
Do you want to be a part of it? Contact our Associate Producer, Amanda Wallgren, if you have an extra set of hands you can lend us for any or all of our performances! As a life-long community volunteer, Amanda knows the impact that volunteerism makes on our community, and she gets to know each volunteer individually to ensure that their contributed time is enjoyable, fulfilling, and most importantly- FUN! amandawallgren@greseproductions.com
RENEGADE, Hero or Villian - You Decide
“Renegade” is a condensed revival of last year’s critically acclaimed production of “Terror”. This taut interactive courtroom drama asks the audience to vote on the verdict of a high stakes trial, which will determine a man’s fate, and the conclusion of the play. A thought provoking and haunting revival, “Renegade” will be directed by Tim Corcoran, founder of the 29th Street Repertory Theater in Manhattan.
GIN GAME, Is it fate or lucky cards?
A Pulitzer Prize winning timeless tragicomedy, “The Gin Game” is the longest running comedy/thriller in the history of Broadway. Can two Seniors playing cards turn bad luck into good? Is it a game of cards or a game of life? The stakes are high as age and time bring them closer to their final game. The play features performances by David Patrick Wilson and Nan Gill in the roles played by Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, and is directed by CPT company member, Professor and performer, Jessica López-Barkl. In Association with our friends at Willy Gilly Productions.
WOODSTOCK RIPPLES - The Good Vibes Abide
Inspired by the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in 1969, “Woodstock Ripples” is a multi-media event featuring live music and rediscovered, as well as previously unseen photos from the original concert, dramatic surprises, and short plays submitted by Authors worldwide. This dynamic and high energy original production is directed by CPT company member, Professor and performer, Nick López.
Admission to all Catskill Public Theater productions is pay-what-you-wish. However, you can reserve a guaranteed seat for a suggested donation of $10. Walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis via the 'No Reservations' line. Reserved seats ensure you won’t miss out, and if you’re not satisfied, we’ll refund your $10—just visit the Box Office after the show.
We are also offering a FREE Acting Academy, to develop and support regional actors, so they can explore acting for the first time or refine their existing acting skill and possibly appear in our productions. Got a “stage struck” family member or friend? Enrollment in our program will be a great way to further that ambition.
The Acting Academy curriculum will include:
• Improvisation and Theater Games in the “Spolin” Technique, used by the famous Second City troupe, where many important Actors have trained.
• Introduction to breathing exercises, plus beginning voice and diction training.
• Introduction to “The Method,” developed by Konstantin Stanislavsky, pionered by the renowned Actor’s Studio, and originated by Lee Strasbourg in LA and NY. Selection and rehearsal of scenes to be presented at our Class ending recital.
Catskill Public Theater is pleased to invite members of our region to be part of a Creative Community and Network of Theater Professionals, Actors, Directors, Students, Patrons as well as Designers, Artists, Technicians and Production Managers. We are looking forward to making a positive impact on the cultural wealth of our wonderful Catskill Region.
