A 1950’s “Rock-a-Billy” style carnival and picnic fundraiser / awareness-raising event to benefit nonprofit Growing Older Together, in a meadow under a big tent, with great food, a midway with games, and live music of the era by Philadelphia based band “Mighty Joe Castro and the Gravaman”. Lavapalooza aims to break the mold of senior focused fundraisers by creating an event that:
· Appeals to the whole community - youth, families, and seniors
· Attracts a younger generation of volunteers
· Becomes an annual “must attend” event on the community calendar!
Children under 10 get free admission and for everyone else, the $45 entry fee gets you full access to:
Food - delicious items including hamburgers, veggie burgers, grilled sausages from the Alpine in Honesdale, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, Mac-n-cheese, corn salad, and spectacular one-of-a-kind cupcakes (lemon/blueberry & caramel/espresso!) made by local baker extraordinaire Sue Cole.
Music - two sets of Rock-A-Billy good time dancin' songs from Might Joe Castro & The Gravamen
Midway games - ring toss, bottle knock down, etc. with prizes for the winners
Beer & Wine available for suggested donation per serving
Also featured will be an auction and raffle with exciting prizes provided by some of our highly talented local artists and generous merchants.
