The narrative follows Talman's friendship with Elizabeth Taylor. They worked together in The Little Foxes on Broadway, where Talman played Taylor's daughter. From here, their friendship blossomed and developed into a tight bond that still lives on. The Shadow of Her Smile is a beautiful homage to Taylor while also being an enchanting storytelling performance of Talman's life.

Bio:

Ann Talman is an actor, singer, storyteller, award winning documentary filmmaker, and four-time Broadway veteran. She joined Actors’ Equity with co-star Elizabeth Taylor in 1981 when she landed the plum role in The Little Foxes playing Taylor’s daughter on Broadway. The show traveled the world for eighteen months months with stops in Ft. Lauderdale, Washington, D.C. (The Kennedy Center), New Orleans, LA’s Ahmanson Theatre as well as London’s West End. Their loving friendship lasted for the rest of Miss Taylor’s life. Ann’s new cabaret show, Elizabeth Taylor and The Shadow of Her Smile, is directed by Bistro and MAC Award winners Lina Koutrakos with musical direction by Alex Rybeck. The show received critical and audience acclaim when it debuted at 54 Below in March 2022 and then again when it enjoyed a two-night encore engagement the following September 2022. It has played The Laurie Beechman, Feinstein’s Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, IN, Feinstein’s Hotel Nikko in San Fran, Chicago’s Davenports, Joe Brancato’s The Penguin Rep and upcoming at The World AIDS Day Gala Friday, December 1, 2023 @ The Liz in Washington DC! She has appeared on Seth Speaks Seth Rudetsky Sirius XM, Susie Mosher’s The Line Up and Jim Caruso’s Cast Party both at Birdland.

Her other stage credits include: Yours, Anne, The House of Blue Leaves (Broadway), Carnival, Steel Magnolias, The Cocktail Hour, Picnic, Dangerous Liaisons, The Diary of Anne Frank, Citizens Market, Murderers, All In The Timing, Some Americans Abroad (Broadway), and the Broadway revival of The Women. Ms. Talman has appeared in several motion pictures including Serendipity, Limitless, Archeology of A Woman and Wall Street. Television credits include guest starring roles on “Seinfeld,” “Ellen,” “Love & War,” “Murphy Brown,” “The Street,” “Law & Order” and a year on “General Hospital,” among others.

She wrote, starred in and produced the multiple award-winning documentary film Woody’s Order!, based on her solo play about her lifelong dedication to her older brother Woody who lived a full life with cerebral palsy. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and is winning awards around the world and was up for Oscar 2018. She has toured the country as a storyteller sharing her very personal and touching tales which she has compiled for the upcoming book: Woody’s Order!

She is a Founding Member of The New Group, Naked Angels, EST/LA and a member of Ensemble Studio Theatre since 1980.
