"Adam's Gift" is a heartwarming story about a man who can't read, a boy who has a debilitating disease, and how each comes to the rescue of the other. Pront is a miserly, mean slumlord who spent his childhood just surviving. He meets Adam and learns the lesson of humility, empathy, and most importantly the importance of literacy. Written by long-time Newark Star-Ledger, New York based theatre critic Peter Filichia has become a playwright with the work Adam's Gifts, a loose contemporary adaptation of Dicken's A Christmas Carol. Productions include Theatre at St. John's in Manhattan, Spotlight Vermont, and the Clinton Area Showboat Theater in Clinton, Iowa. With an outstanding cast of local actors, this radio play adaption of "Adam's Gift" is an ideal way to kick off the holiday season and help raise much needed funds for a great cause - improving literacy in Sullivan County. SCDW is donating the entire proceeds of this one-night only performance to the Literacy Center.
